In the construction industry, “flatwork” refers to concrete work along the horizontal plane. Paving is a specific type of flatwork. The tools and skills required to do flatwork efficiently differ enough from other areas of concrete construction to merit it’s own sub-category. Flatwork usually involves substrate preparation, construction of wooden or composite forms to contain the newly poured concrete and reinforcing rebar or wire mesh embedded in the concrete. Curing of the poured concrete by maintaining the proper moisture and temperature is an important factor in producing high-quality flatwork. Tools and accessories required in flatwork include chemical retarders such as Masterfinish and mechanical pieces such as speed plates and dowels.
Reinforcing Construction Wire Mesh is made from premium quality steel. The mesh wire is welded together at each intersection for strength and durability.
Introducing Dowel Caps: The perfect solution for smooth dowel movement! Available in various sizes to fit different rebar sizes, these 4" long caps are molded from heavy-duty plastic for durability. Upgrade your construction process with Dowel Caps for reliable and efficient performance.
Sika’s Speed Plate® system reduces the number of dowels required when compared with conventional doweling systems. Speed Plate® allows the installer to increase the center distance between dowels, further reducing labor and material costs
Speed Dowel is a patented two-component system, comprised of a round or square dowel sleeve and corresponding base. The base and sleeve attach to the edge form prior to concrete placement.
Fiberglass Composite Rebar is a high‐strength composite reinforcing bar engineered for concrete flatwork. 3MAX™ Composite Rebar replaces steel rebar and welded wire mesh in flatwork, providing centuries of serviceability to your reinforced concrete
